More than €6.1 million has been allocated to Clare under the Forestry Programme since 2015.
New figures released to the Oireachtas show funding has dropped in recent years, with just over €237,000 given to this county’s forestry areas last year.
The Department of Agriculture’s records show Clare has around twice the area of conifers than broadleave land under the scheme.
More than €4.3 million was allocated to forestry areas nationwide under the initiative in 2022.
