€50,000 For Clare’s Young Entrepreneurs

A fifty-thousand euro investment fund has been presented by the Local Enterprise Office in Clare to six young entrepreneurs.

A fifty-thousand euro investment fund has been presented by the Local Enterprise Office in Clare to six young entrepreneurs.

The men and women  between 18 and 35 have been honoured at the County Final of Ireland's Best Young Entrepreneur competition, which has taken place at the Buttermarket Building in Ennis.

Supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise & Innovation and Enterprise Ireland, the IBYE has a two million investment fund which is run by all 31 Local Enterprise Offices across the country.

This years winners include 35-year-old Damian Mason of Scarriff, who won the overall "Best Young Entrepreneur" award for his business idea Flexibod, as well as the "Best Business Idea" award.

28-year-old Aidan Quilligan from Sixmilebridge won in the Best Start Up Category for Clubify, and 31-year-old Evan Talty of Wild Irish Seaweed in Quilty won in the Best Established Business category.

They'll represent Clare at one of eight IBYE Regional Finals, taking place during January and February.

There were three runners-up; 32-year-old Brian Kelly of Bull Match, Kilnaboy, 35-year-old Michael Eustace of Western Herd Brewery, Kilmaley and 33-year-old Caroline Gardiner of Carrie's Cakes In Ennis.
