Over €480,000 has been allocated to Clare in the first round of the Local Improvement Scheme funding.
The money will allow for work on smaller roads and boreens in this county, some of which would not ordinarily be covered by council funding.

Many of these roads lead to dwellings and businesses in rural parts of Clare, with the local communities part-funding the improvement works.
Bodyke Fine Gael Councillor Joe Cooney, who is the Chair of the Physical Development Committee which is in charge of roads, says people living in rural areas deserve this funding:
