Clare is set to benefit from an active travel allocation of over 3.3 million-euro for the coming year.
The National Transport Authority has confirmed funding for thirteen projects here, along with €450,000 for staff costs at Clare County Council’s Active Travel Office and €500,000 for bus stop enhancements.
The Tulla Road Active Travel Scheme is the biggest beneficiary receiving over €1.5m, while Clonmoney, Toonagh, Lakyle, Ballycar, Caherea, Ennis and Holy Family National Schools and Ennis Gaelscoil will all benefit from Safe Routes To School funding.
Inagh based Green Party Deputy Leader and outgoing Senator Roisín Garvey says it’s vital the funds are spent on infrastructure and not consultants.
