€25m Ennis South Flood Relief Scheme Officially Opened

A 25 million euro flood relief scheme for Ennis South has been officially opened today.

The new flood defences along the River Fergus are to provide protection to the residential areas of Ballybeg, Clareabbey and Toberteascáin as well as St Flannan’s College and the Quin Road Industrial Estate.

It represents the last of three schemes between the Office of Public Works and Clare County Council that have brought flood protection to nearly 2,000 properties in the county town.

Minister of State with responsibility for the OPW, Patrick O’ Donovan, says the project will enable Ennis to continue to flourish into the future.
