€25,000 For ‘Behaviour Change’ Project In Ennis

25 thousand euro is to be spent as part of a project which will encourage more people out of their cars when travelling to school or work in Ennis.

The money has been allocated by the Department of Transport to Clare County Council, for what’s been called an ‘Ennis Town Behaviour Change Process’

It will see a relevant expert appointed to introduce a pilot scheme with Ennis National School and St. Flannan’s College, as well as two office workplaces, in a bid to develop ‘active travel’ forms such as cycling and walking.

Last year saw controversy in the Clonroadmore and College View/College Grove areas, near St. Flannan’s and Ennis National Schools, after the installation of cycling infrastructure which local residents said led to traffic problems, particularly at the beginning and end of the school day.
