Over €11m Approved For Vacant And Derelict Property Refurbishments In Clare

Over €11m in funding has been approved for vacant and derelict property refurbishments in Clare.

New figures show the majority of successful Croí Conaithe applicants here are living in the west of the county.

So far, 187 applicants from Clare have been successful in their applications for funding under the vacant property refurbishment scheme.

The majority of these have been approved in the Kilrush electoral area. 71 applications have been given the green light in West Clare to date, representing a potential investment of 4,486,850.

In North Clare, 41 grants have been approved to date to a value of €2,379,749.

Under the vacant property refurbishment scheme, those renovating a vacant home which has not been occupied for at least two years can receive up to €50,000 for works, while €70,000 is available to those fixing up a derelict house.

But the funding is not paid out until the approved works have been completed.

An investment of €1.5m has also been approved for 27 properties in Ennis, while Shannon and East Clare have each seen 24 properties given the green light, with respective funding of over €1.4m and €1.3m in the pipeline.

Overall, subject to completion of works, Clare County Council’s Vacant Homes Team have approved €11.1m for refurbishment of vacant and derelict properties in Clare.
