Ten thousand euro in funding has been announced for the maintanance of overgrown hedges throughout County Clare.
The Community Hedge Cutting Grant Scheme which was the first of its kind to be developed in the country two years ago has now been set up to deal with Clare's local road network over the coming autumn and winter.

Communities and groups are being urged to apply for a grant of €50 per kilometre of hedgerow which will assist landowners in complying with their responsibilites as set out by the 1993 roads act.
Bodyke Councillor Joe Cooney hopes landowners will avail of the scheme.
