Clare County Council has racked up a bill of over €10,000 for its annual St Patrick’s Day trip.
Figures obtained by Clare FM show the local authority spent in excess fo €5,000 on accommodation alone during its visit to New York in March.
The Clare County Council delegation consisted of Mayor of Clare, Sixmilebridge Fianna Fáil Councillor Alan O’Callaghan, and Interim Chief Executive Dr Carmel Kirby.
The delegation left Shannon on March 13th and returned on March 18th.
The total cost of the five-day trip has been revealed to be €10,559.68.
More than 50% of this went towards accommodation with €5,346 spent in this respect.
Flights, transfers and subsistence costs amounted to €3,927.68 while €1,286 went towards corporate expenses.
