€1.3 Million Worth Of Drugs Seized On Clare/Limerick Border

Gardai have seized more than 1.3 million euro worth of drugs on the Clare/Limerick border.

The heroin was recovered following a number of searches today in Corbally and Clonlara.

Gardaí attached to the Limerick Divisional Drug Unit, supported by Gardaí from Mayorstone, Regional Dog Unit and members of the Defence Forces carried out the searches as part of Operation Tara earlier today.

During the course of those searches, heroin with an estimated street value of 1.34 million euro was discovered.

No arrests were made during the course of the search and the drugs will now be forwarded to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.

A further search took place at a separate location where Gardaí seized €12,500 in cash.

A man in his 40s was arrested at the scene of that search and has been taken to Henry Street Garda Station where he is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

It’s understood investigations remain ongoing.
