There’s been a drop in the number of Clare motorists renewing their car tax .
Figures from the Clare Motor Tax Office show it issued over 126 thousand discs in 2011- compared to almost 136 thousand the previous year.
The office, which recently moved to Clare County Council HQ on the New Road, this week experienced a hike in the number of walk in customers and phone queries – following the hike in motor tax costs announced in the budget.

Management are appealing to drivers to apply online – as the service is operational 24/7 or people can also avail of the Motor Tax Department’s postal service.
