Drop in Live Register Numbers

The Mid-West region has seen one of the largest annual decreases in the number of people claiming unemployment benefits in the past year.

The number of people signing on in the region fell by over 820 in the past month, and is down by over 1200 on this time last year, trailing only the West in terms of the rate of people leaving the dole queues.

However, despite the encouraging figures, almost 39,000 people remain on the dole queues in the MidWest as of the end of March.
