The number of Clare motorists arrested for drink driving offences over the Christmas Period has fallen.

New garda figures show 12 people were detained by officers after being caught over the legal blood alcohol limit while behind the wheel of a car during the festive season – this compares to 15 during the same three weeks in 2011.
There was one serious injury crash over the Christmas, along with 5 non serious incidents and material damage was caused in a further 36 collisions.
