The average cost of renting a home in Clare dropped in the final three months of last year.
The latest figures from the Residential Tenancies Board show the average price of renting a home in the county stood at €654 per month between October and December last, down from €663 the previous quarter.
But the figure still represents an almost 7% rise on the same period in 2016.
Shannon was the most expensive place to live, where it’s costing renters €754 on average, followed by Ennis at €694, and in West Clare the average cost is €584 per month.
Nationally, rents are continuing to rise and remain higher than the boom, but Rosalind Carroll of the RTB says the rate of growth has slowed.
