Dromoland Castle Books To Be Sold In US Auction

A rare collection of books, which once took pride of place in the Dromoland Castle library are to be sold at an auction in the United states.

The collection includes books that appear to have been collected by Sir Edward O’Brien, the 2nd Baronet, who lived until 1765.

They were obtained after the library and its contents were sold in a 1962 liquidation auction, and brought to the US by a decendent of the 14th Baron of Inchiquin.

The auction takes place through Blackwell Auctions in Clearwater Florida, on Saturday November 10th.

It follows the recent sale of Dromoland Castle’s 17th century Spanish Armada table, which sold at auction in Louth for €360,000.
