Dramatic Rise In Overcrowding At Region’s Main Hospital

There's been a dramatic rise in the level of overcrowding at the region's main hospital today.

49 people are waiting for beds at Universtiy Hospital Limerick, 25 of those in the Emergency Department.

Figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show it's the highest level of overcrowding of any hospital in the country, in stark contrast with conditions there yesterday.

St Vincent's Hospital in Dublin is experiencing similar difficulties with 47 people waiting on trolleys there.
