Dramatic Rescue Of Children Swept To Sea By Riptide To Feature In New Radio Documentary

The dramatic rescue of two children swept out to sea by a notorious riptide in West Clare will feature in a new radio documentary.

“Riptide” examines the harrowing incident at Doughmore Beach on August 13th 2022, which sparked a major search and rescue operation involving the Kilkee and Doolin units of the Irish Coast Guard, Rescue 115, the National Ambulance Service, and local Gardaí.

Produced by Clare FM’s Programme Director, Padraic Flaherty, the documentary delves into the determination shown by the young children and the heroism of rescuers Darren Byrnes and Ian Bolger, as well as the entire search and rescue team.
