Dozens Of Outstanding Bench Warrants In Clare

178 warrants for arrest, issued by Clare’s courts, have yet to be executed and some have been outstanding for a number of years.

Despite this, figures released to the Dáil show the number of outstanding bench warrants issued in respect of the Clare Garda Division is still one of the lowest of any part of the country.

The number has also fallen since last July, when the Dáil was told that the number of outstanding bench warrants stood at 188, ten higher than the current figure.

At that stage, 125 of those bench warrants, or 68% of the total, had been outstanding for over a year with the earliest of those dating back to October 1991.
