Nurses have recorded close to double the number of patients on trolleys at University Hospital Limerick today, than all nine hospitals in the east of the country, combined.
The latest analysis from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation shows there were 122 admitted patients waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 56 of those in the Emergency Department.
The overall figure is 53 more than the next busiest facility; Cork University Hospital, 57 more than all nine eastern hospitals and represents more than a quarter of the admitted patients on trolleys at all 32 Irish hospitals.
It’s the second day this week that trolley numbers have remained above 120 at the Dooradoyle facility.
