The CEO of Doras believes a new government initiative aimed at expediting the Asylum Seeker application process won’t result in a surge of new arrivals to the county.
The International Protection Modernisation Programme has been published this week and sets out to deliver an additional 250 first instance decisions per month by the spring of 2024.
At the end of June, Clare County Council’s monthly management report noted that over 800 International Protection Applicants were residing here, with that figure increasing monthly.
