Doolin Coast Guard will celebrate a landmark anniversary this weekend by marking the contribution of the volunteers who have dedicated their lives to saving others.
The search and rescue service has been in operation in North Clare for the past 80 years, having first being set up in 1937.
Since then, 96 volunteers have spent three years or more involved with the Coast Guard responsing to callouts at any time they’re needed.

Their names will now be permanently commemorated on a plaque, while a fun day will also be held for the current volunteers and their families – Mattie Shannon is one of those involved and says it’s important to celebrate the families too:
