Dooley Calls for State Transport Funding

The government is being urged to put funding in place so that Clare bus and train passengers can avoid higher fares.

A hike in ticket costs has been confirmed from next month after the NTA granted price rises for Bus Éireann, Irish Rail, Dublin Bus and Luas services.

Rates on some services will begin to rise as soon as this Friday, and some charges will increase by nearly 10 per cent, though the biggest rises are on services in Dublin.

Clares Fianna Fail TD, and party spokesman on Transport, Timmy Dooley says the lack of government support for the state’s transport companies is placing more stress onto struggling commuters.
