The Health Minister has said Ennis didn’t make the list of new primary care centre locations announced this week because local doctors were against the process.

16 towns have been given approval for new multi-service health centres, funded through a public-private partnership, though Ennis and Gort, were not included, despite being an original list of 35 priority locations announced in 2012.
Minister James Reilly was questioned on the Ennis issue in the Dail this week, by Clare Fine Gael TD Pat Breen, who was told that the HSE still hopes that Ennis doctors will commit to a new primary care centre through an operational lease scheme
