His mother Maha Al-Adheem was arrested yesterday morning.

Today, Detective Sergeant Brendan O’Halloran from Sundrive Road Garda Station gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution before Judge Michael Walsh at Dublin District Court.

After being charged with her son’s murder at 1.16am today, he said she replied: “Yes, it was my knife. Yes, it was my hand. It was not me. It was the power.”

The 42-year-old doctor, who moved to Ireland from Iraq a few years ago, didn’t address the court at any stage.

There was no application for bail today because that can only be applied for in the High Court so she was remanded in custody for a week.
