A do not swim notice is in effect at Lahinch Beach after tests showed elevated levels of bacteria in the water.
Clare County Council has issued the bathing prohibition on the advice of the HSE.

According to the local authority, the high bacteria levels are likely the cause of agricultural run off from Sunday’s heavy rainfall.
In accordance with An Taisce’s programme, the Blue Flag at Lahinch will be removed until such time as the water quality improves.
