Gardaí say DNA testing will be carried out to establish the identity of a body recovered from the sea off the Clare coast.
Members of the Burren Sub Aqua Club, accompanied by a diver from Limerick Sub Aqua Club, made the discovery during an exercise near the Cliffs of Moher at around 3.00 o'clock yesterday.
Gardaí and the Doolin unit of the Irish Coast Guard were alerted and two divers, one from each of the clubs, undertook another dive to recover the body to the surface.
The body, which is believed to have been in the water for some time, was removed to University Hospital Limerick, where a post mortem examination is due to be carried out today.
