Diverted Plane Lands Safely At Shannon

Emergency services have been stood down, after a flight diverted to Shannon Airport, has landed safely.

United Airlines flight UA-76 was on its way from Belfast to Newark in the US when crew reported a possible problem with the aircrafts landing gear.

Emergency services including the fire service, ambulance and Gardaí were placed on standby at the airport but have since been stood down after the plane landed safely in the past hour.

Engineers are now standing by to investigate the issue – it's not yet known whether the flight will resume today.
