Clare health campaigners have reacted with scepticism to the Health Minister’s insistence that he hasn’t broken election promises regarding Ennis General.

Speaking on his first official visit to the county Minister James Reilly also maintained that the future of hospital services here is secure, despite ongoing changes to local medical, cardiology and A&E services.
Minister Reilly also pledged that the long awaited Small Hospitals Framework document, which will determine the provision of healthcare in Clare, should be published within weeks.
However Clare Fianna Fail TD Timmy Dooley says the Minister effectively admitted Ennis General had faced a further downgrade – which he says is a broken election promise!
