“Developer Subsidies Urgently Needed” To Boost Clare Housing Supply

A prominent economist insists developer subsidies are urgently needed in Clare to boost this county’s rental housing stock.

Daft.ie’s annual review for 2023, published today, shows that the average price of renting here rose by over 12% last year.

The average monthly cost is now €1,342 per month for tenants in this county, while the number of homes available for rent across the province has fallen by 66% since 2019.

Author of the report, Economist Ronan Lyons says that current cost of construction is so expensive that developers have little incentive.
