The Department of Health has declined to confirm that the new Emergency Department at University Hospital Limerick will open this May, as has been planned.
Doubts were cast about the opening date of the much-needed facility in recent weeks when the HSE's Service Plan indicated there could be a delay, though the head of the UL Hospitals Group Colette Cowan has insisted to Clare FM that it will be on schedule.
However, when raised by Limerick Labour TD Jan O'Sullivan in the Dáil last evening, no confirmation was given on an opening date.
