There were 234 deployments in areas across the West and South West, involving 3314 personnel following storms Desmond, Eva, Frank, Gertrude and Henry.

Naval Service Reserve personnel provided boat assets to people living locally in Conlara.

Springfield resident Geraldine Quinlivan says people living locally would have been lost without the efforst of emergency services throughout the past number of months.

Meanwhile, the flow of water from Parteen Weir has been reduced today.

The level of discharge was increased last week in response to rising water in Lough Derg on account of heavy rainfall.

The ESB will reduce the flow to 195 cubic metres per second today, with a further review taking place tomorrow.

But the power company is advising that this level of discharge continues to have associated flooding to land and property in the Springfield area of Clonlara.
