Clare County Council was one of a number of local authorities to be given the option of reducing the charge by 15% last year due to the level of property tax income here.
Councils have to notify the Revenue Commissioners by Wednesday if they wish to retain the cut.
At a meeting of Clare County Council this afternoon, local representatives will vote on whether to vary the rate but Cathaoirleach, Councillor James Breen thinks the reduction should remain in place.
