Decision Due on Shannon River Crossing Project

A decision on whether the Shannon River Crossing Project can go ahead is expected shortly.

The project, which was given the go-ahead by An Bord Pleanala in April 2013, was granted over 40 million euro in funding under the Government's Capital Investment Plan.

Its subject to a judicial review after environmental campaigners and local expressed concerns over the project, the outcome of which is expected to be known later.

The project includes the Killaloe bypass and upgrade works on the road linking Ballina and Birdhill.
