Brendan O’Sullivan’s legal team claim the jury at his murder trial were left hopelessly confused about what constitutes self defence.
The 28 year old was jailed for life in 2010 for killing 27 year old Leslie Kenny with a double barrelled shotgun, which he fired two times, reloaded and fired twice again.

The court heard his neighbour had 82 previous convictions and had made threats to slit the throats of Brendan O’Sullivan’s daughters, shoot down his back door, and put petrol in his letterbox.

The Court of Criminal Appeal  will today hand down its decision as to whether the issues of self defence and manslaughter were properly explained to the jury at the trial.
