Death Announced Of Former Cooraclare Parish Priest

 

Tributes have been paid following the death of a long-serving West Clare priest.

Fr. Paddy Carmody, who has most recently served in the parish of Cooraclare, has died at Kilcolgan Nursing Home this weekend.

The Carrigaholt native was a past pupil of St Flannan’s College in Ennis, and was ordained to the priesthood in 1956.

After a time in the UK, he returned to Ireland in 1961 and served as curate in Ruan and Miltown Malbay, before becoming Parish Priest in Killimer-Knockerra, and later in Cooraclare in 1993.

He will be laid to rest in Cooraclare following funeral mass this Wednesday.
