A proposed deal has been reached at the Croke Park extension talks.

Public Expenditure Minister Brendan Howlin says the proposal achieves the target of one billion euro worth of public sector savings.

It includes pay cuts of between five and ten per cent for those earning over 65 thousand euro; a three year freeze on increments; a longer working week of either 37 or 39 hours; cuts to premium pay which will see Sunday pay cut to time and three quarters and the abolition of Twilight Pay.

It follows over 24 hours worth of talks between Government officials and unions – during which four trade unions walked out of the negotiations.

Speaking after the talks concluded today, Minister Howlin said the deal was tough but fair
