People hoping to cast their vote in the upcoming general elections have less than a week to add their name to the register.

The Leas-Cathaoirleach of Clare County Council is reminding people that the deadline for registering is November 25th and anyone who hasn't registered since turning 18 or who has recently moved house should go online on checktheregister.ie
Councillor Mary Howard is highligthing the imporatance of exercising your right to vote saying many countries around the world don't have that opportunity.
She says she has received a number of calls from people who have disciovered their names aren't on the register.
