Daniel Day-Lewis has won the Best Actor Oscar, for Lincoln while Ben Affleck’s Iran hostage drama "Argo" has won the top prize for best picture.
Best actress went to Jennifer Lawrence for Silver Linings Playbook while Anne Hathaway won Best Supporting Actress for "Les Miserables".
And the Actor in a Supporting Role Oscar went to Christoph Waltz in Django Unchained
Ang Lee won best director for "Life of Pi".
Adele won the best original song Oscar for Bond theme "Skyfall" a first for a Bond movie.
Meanwhile, there was disappointment for Irish Oscar contenders Seamus McGarvey and Fodhla Cronin O’Reilly last night.
Mr McGarvey had been nominated in the cinematography category, but lost out to the Life of Pi.
While in the animated film section Fodhla Cronin O’Reilly lost out to Paperman by John Kahrs.
