The dangers of burning waste are being highlighted after fire personnel were called to an incident near Shannon Airport yesterday.

Clare County Fire Service was alerted to an outdoor fire in a field in Sun Hall around 10am which led to smoke drifting across the runway at the Mid-West airport.
A number of small fires were lit in the Ballycally area to burn off scrub and agricultural waste but the relevant athorities weren't notified in advance.
Clare's Chief Fire Officer Adrian Kelly has been telling me that laws governing controlled burning must be adhered to.
