‘Dangerous Occurences’ Reported By Clare Healthcare Staff Almost Trebled In 2020

The number of ‘dangerous occurences’ reported by healthcare staff in Clare on the HSE’s National Incident Management System almost trebled last year.

The system, which is designed to improve patient and user safety, allows staff to confidentially report issues in a number of forms about matters such as breaks not taken and prolonged ambulance waiting times.

123 ‘dangerous occurences’ were documented in Clare in 2020, including 44 related to the use of COVID PPE, with just 45 instances in total recorded back in 2019.
