Dana Rosemary Scallon is the sixth confirmed candidate in the Presidential election after securing the backing of four local authorities to enter the race.
The former singer secured the backing of Donegal County Council earlier today, and this afternoon has been nominated by Offaly County Council.

She now becomes the sixth candidate in the election, though a seventh could be set to join the field.
Senator David Norris now needs the support of just one more local authority to run in the election, after he today won the support of Waterford City Council.
