The Dáil has heard criticisms of the decision to take away one of two teachers in a small West Clare primary school.

Labasheeda National School will have just 16 pupils next year, a figure lower than the threshold for a second teacher, but pre-enrolment forms already signed by parents show this will change in the years ahead.
However, the school's appeal to retain current staffing levels has been lost.
