Its reported that the DAA has conceded for the first time that Shannon Airport has a viable independent future.
An article in today’s Irish Examiner says a memo from the Airport Authority circulated to government departments and seen by the paper, clearly sets out the view that the Mid West facility would have a future if operated independently.
It reportedly went on to state that if a stand alone entity was the option taken by the Transport Minister , then the DAA believes Shannon could attract an extra quarter of a million passengers a year.
Leo Varadkar is expected to announce a decision on the future governance of the region’s international airport in the coming weeks.
