The man behind a mural of the Púca in Ennistymon is asking people not to judge his work until it is completed.

Local artist Johnny O’Gorman has painted the mural on the side of a building, in a car park on New Road.

The mural follows the controversy earlier this year over plans to erect a thirty thousand euro statue of the Púca in the West Clare town.

Clare County Council paused its plans to put up the statue after a number of local objections, with a public engagement process now due to take place.

Johnny has a theory on why some people aren’t in favour of the Púca, as a statue or a mural.
