Last November, a total of 51,224 adults and children were waiting for a hospital appointment at either UHL or Ennis Hospital.

Fast forward twelve months and this figure has dropped by almost 20% to 42,022 people.

Last month nearly 34,000 adults were waiting for an outpatient appointment in Limerick, compared to the over 42,000 who were on the list last year.

The number of people waiting more than 18 moths for an outpatient appointment at the Dooradoyle facility has also dropped.

Nearly 17,500 adults were waiting over a year and a half to see a consultant last November, but this fell by almost 73% to just over 8,100 last month.

The number of children waiting for appointments at both Ennis and UHL only fell marginally from 4,888 in 2021 to 4,666 this November.

While the list decreased substantially for outpatient appointments, the number of adults waiting for an inpatient appointment at both hospitals increased by almost a third in the past year.
