A North Clare councillor says the whole community is in mourning following the tragic death of a man in Fanore.
The man in his forties, who has been named locally as Patrick McCarthy, who it’s believed was living near the area, lost his life after getting into difficulty while swimming on Monday night.
Clare County Council has expressed its condolences to his family and has extended the sympathies of the staff and elected members.
