Lisdoonvarna Fáilte says the town’s infrastructure is coming under pressure after the influx of Ukrainian refugees has seen their population more than double.

Currently, the towns of Ballyvaughan and Lisdoonvarna have accommodated 6% of the total number of refugees that Ireland has taken in, with around 1,000 in Lisdoonvarna alone.

Up to 32,000 Ukrainian refugees are expected in Ireland by the Easter weekend, with Fianna Fáil Deputy Cathal Crowe outlining his concern that communities like those in North Clare are ‘bursting at the seams’.
