Lidl says they’re confident concerns outlined by An Bord Pleanala regarding developments of a second store in Ennis have been addressed in their latest planning application.

The supermarket chain has again applied for permission for a 20 million euro investment encompassing a second store in the county town along with residential apartments, a cafe and 2 commercial units.

Clare County Council had previously given the German company the go ahead for development at the site, at the junction of the Clare Road and Toberteascain Road, but it was subsequently overturned by the planning authority.

Scariff native and Lidl property executive Dervla Nash says the reasons behind that refusal in 2019 have been ‘overcome’ by the retailer.
