An Ennis insurer insists it’s vitally important to have increased transparency in the motor insurance system.

It follows a first-of-its-kind report from the Central Bank, which found that in the ten years to 2018, the price paid by drivers for insurance shot up by 42%.

The Private Motor Insurance Report found that the average cost of a premium last year was €706, while in 2009, that figure sat at just €498.

CEO of MunsterGroup Insurance Padraic McNicholas has been telling Clare FM’s James Mulhall that reports like this are important so that those taking out policies can see where they’re paying more.
