Harty Hands Back Part Of Allowance After Failing To Reach Minimum Dáil Attendance Levels

Clare Independent TD Michael Harty is one of six TDs who have been forced to hand back part of their standard travel and accommodation allowance for failing to attend the Dáil for 120 days last year.

Dr. Harty missed the number by four days, and as a result was forced to return €1,255.

The allowance is based on the distance travelled from a TD’s normal residence, and is worth over €31,000 a year to the Kilmihil-based GP.
